Sam Raimi's canceled Spider-Man 4 film gets a fan trailer where it imagines Tobey Maguire's return as the iconic web-slinger. While Spider-Man 3 looked to be the end of the Raimi universe, the Marvel Cinematic Universe ended up changing its fate years later. Nearly a decade after Spider-Man 4 was canceled, Maguire reprised the role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that fans want to continue seeing more of Maguire and Garfield's versions of Spider-Man. A year after Spider-Man: No Way Home opened in theaters, the folks at Screen Culture have put together a fan-made trailer for what could be Maguire's Spider-Man 4. The trailer is presented as a hypothetical film from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, in a similar capacity to Holland's trilogy.
Obviously, given that so many years have passed since the initial Spider-Man 4 development, the film would have to be different if made today. If Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures truly were looking to do a continuation of Raimi and Maguire's franchise, there are a few key factors to consider.
While Spider-Man 4 would obviously want to focus on new villains in the Raimi-verse, it would be key to follow up with Norman, Otto, and Flint. Now that all of them have been given a second chance at life, their stories post-Spider-Man: No Way Home are just as important as Peter's arc. Spider-Man 4 would ultimately also be a way to serve as a proper finale for Maguire's web-slinger, but also set up a new chapter in that world.
