Sam Greenwood has joined Middlesbrough on loan from Leeds United in the 15th exit from Elland Road of the summer transfer window
Another loan deal has been sanctioned by Leeds United with Sam Greenwood heading to Middlesbrough for the season. The 21-year-old was expected to be too far down Daniel Farke’s pecking order to pick up regular minutes this term.
The Sunderland native, who still lives in the area, will now play under Michael Carrick at Riverside Stadium for the campaign. Middlesbrough lost in the play-offs last season. A club statement said: “Leeds United’s Sam Greenwood has today joined fellow Championship side Middlesbrough on loan until the end of the season. The 21-year-old, who can play in midfield or attack, has made 35 senior appearances for the Whites since joining the club from Arsenal in August 2020.
“Greenwood has been limited to two outings from the bench this season and will now look to get further game time away from Elland Road. We thank Sam for his professionalism and wish him good luck during his time at the Riverside Stadium.”
