The letter said the cuts, which the company expects to be permanent, affect employees at three locations in San Francisco in the following job categories: 194 in general administration, 117 in sales and customer service, and 441 in technology and product.
Salesforce’s planned mass layoffs are among others in the tech industry that are being attributed to over-hiring during the past few years. Benioff told employees last week when he announced the job cuts that “as our revenue accelerated through the pandemic, we hired too many people leading into this economic downturn we’re now facing, and I take responsibility for that.”
