The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists releases a list of what actors cannot do during the current strike.

The Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists releases a list of what members of the labor union cannot do for the duration of the new actors strike. SAG-AFTRA called for a strike on July 13 after negotiations for a new contract with the Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers fell through. The strike will commence at midnight on July 14, as actors join the Writers Guild of America on the picket lines and fight for fair pay and better residuals.

Variety released a full list of all the work that SAG-AFTRA will prohibit its 160,000 members from performing during the strike. The list is fairly extensive, as the labor union doesn't just represent actors, but also radio personalities, broadcast journalists, stunt performers, dancers, singers, and more.

What Does The SAG-AFTRA Strike Mean For Hollywood? Given the expansive list of forbidden tasks for over 160,000 performers, many are likely wondering what this means for Hollywood. SAG-AFTRA isn't the only major Hollywood labor union on strike. The Writers Guild has also been on strike since May 2, and its 11,500 members have succeeded in disrupting numerous productions, from Daredevil: Born Again to The Penguin.

As a result, the actors strike could potentially mean that Hollywood will completely shut down. The above list makes all aspects of filmmaking virtually impossible. Movies and shows that are currently in early development won't lift off the ground due to the inability of actors to negotiate or audition for new projects, and films in active production will be forced to pause with the loss of actors and crew members.

The impact of the strike is already being felt, as the Oppenheimer cast walked out of the film's premiere when the strike was called. Additionally, the 2023 Emmys are likely to be delayed amid the strikes. While the WGA already brought quite a few productions to a halt, the actors strike is expected to add to that number significantly.
