Rutgers women's basketball is already making an impact on the recruiting trail in the second year of the Coquese Washington era.In her second year as head coach, Washington opened with a shout out to the Rutgers football team and head coach Greg Schiano for beating Indiana and clinching a bowl game. She spoke about the fun atmosphere of attending games and how special it is to be part of an athletics department on the rise.
Penn State coach Carolyn Kieger has also observed a Rutgers overlap in the recruiting pool and across their shared region. “That was amazing. The culture here, the facilities, how she just laid everything out and presented it to me, it felt natural and it was a really good connection and we developed a really good relationship early on. I knew her when she was at Notre Dame, she recruited me there, so we kind of had a relationship already. We just built upon that and made it stronger before I got here.”
