Kansas City's Brady Singer earned the win after allowing three runs on five hits in 6 2/3 innings. He recorded four strikeouts and two walks.
Boston starter Kutter Crawford was pulled with one out in the fourth. He allowed three runs on seven hits, walked two and struck out six. After Waters hit his seventh home run of the season to increase Kansas City's lead to 3-0 in the fourth, Boston cut its deficit to 3-2 by scoring twice in the fifth. Adam Duvall hit his 10th home run to make it 3-1 before Alex Verdugo doubled, took third on a groundout and scored on Connor Wong's single.
