Rookie quarterback Jake Dolegala is to start his first CFL game when the Riders play the visiting Argonauts on Sunday.
“Hopefully we’ll get both of them out here ,” Dickenson said. “Then it will be Jake and whoever of those two is ready to roll.”
With Fajardo and Fine on the sideline, Dolegala was the lone quarterback available for the Riders’ two practices. Sunday would be Dolegala’s first regular-season professional start. The 25-year-old Dolegala had NFL stints with the Cincinnati Bengals , New England Patriots , Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins before signing with the Riders on Feb. 14.
Dolegala was then asked on a scale of one to 10 how confident he was in his ability to perform Sunday.The Riders have been dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak since returning from last Saturday’s Touchdown Atlantic game against the Argonauts. “We are what we are right now, but after this game we should be OK,” said Dickenson, whose Riders are to play the visiting B.C. Lions on July 29.
