Rory McIlroy admits he feels like a “sacrificial lamb” and reiterated his “hate” for LIV Golf when stressing the breakaway series is not a key component of golf’s bombshell merger
while other major champions defected to a series that held its first event almost exactly 12 months ago.
“I learned about it pretty much at the same time everyone else did. It was a surprise. It’s hard for me to not sit up here and feel somewhat like a sacrificial lamb. I’m feeling like I’ve put myself out there and this is what happens,” said McIlroy, who last year insisted there was “no room in the golf world” for LIV.
