As well as a £26 million gap in the budget for the current year, a budget gap of around £58 million is being forecast for the next four years

Opposition members at Nottingham City Council say issues including the collapse of Robin Hood Energy have left a "legacy of pressure" on its finances after a £26 million budget gap was revealed. The finance chief at the council said "difficult decisions" would be needed in future after documents showing budget gaps over the next four years were published.

The council says factors including inflation, reduced funding from the Government and an increased demand on its services were among the reasons cited by Nottingham City Council for its budget gaps. But the opposition group of three Nottingham Independents and one independent councillor say past financial errors at the council are continuing to cast a shadow on its budgets.
