The Cure's Robert Smith has become the latest celeb to call out Ticketmaster. The singer has said he is 'sickened' by the company's decision to add extra fees on top of ticket prices.
He had previously confirmed the band had declined the opportunity to do Platinum tickets, describing it as a ‘greedy scam.’
Writing on Twitter in all-caps, the musician wrote: ‘I am as sickened as you all are by today’s Ticketmaster ‘fees’ debacle. He had previously admitted it was ‘far from a perfect system’ but ‘at least this one tries to get tickets into the hands of fans at a fair price.’ Robert’s hitting out at the fees has gone down well with fans. with one writing they ‘appreciate what you did.’Another wrote: ‘Thank you for doing this,’ with one adding the fees ‘just bum me out,’ while one wrote simply: ‘Robert Smith I love you!’Ticketmaster has been hit with high-profile backlash in the UK and abroad, most recently when fans struggled to buy tickets to Eurovision – with the site crashing before the countdown to the sale had even ended.
