Roads through Strathclyde Park in Motherwell are to reopen following a legal dispute between North Lanarkshire Council and M&D’s Theme Park.
The council announced the change on social media, stating: “During the lockdown in 2020, we closed the through road between Motherwell and the Raith Interchange in Strathclyde Country Park as part of the Spaces for People initiative. This allowed people to walk on the road safely and enjoy the park to its fullest extent by reducing vehicle traffic through the park.
“Signage will be in place and we will be installing, over time, significant traffic calming measures to ensure that all people who use the park can be safe. It’s important that people using the park on foot are aware of the road being opened to vehicles, stay on footpaths and verges and be mindful of children.
The council later reposted its announcement, removing any reference to M&D’s or legal action “forcing” it to allow vehicle access to the park.
