At long last, diplomacy is breaking out. Following the Brexit years, no one in government circles could find a good word to say about the French, but Rishi Sunak has announced that he will be attending a major bilateral meeting with President Emmanuel Macron on 10 March.. I attended all the summits between former president Jacques Chirac and Tony Blair. He just looked bemused that this was of the slightest importance or why he should have a view.
