Triston McKenzie is set to take the mound for the Guardians in the series finale against Baltimore.
Hunter Gaddis began his fourth extended stint with the Guardians on Thursday when he started against Baltimore. He was with the team from March 31 through April 19 and returned May 22 through June 3. His most recent stint was Aug. 29 through Sept. 1.
Gaddis started 15 games for the Clippers and went 2-10 with a 6.14 ERA, 65 strikeouts and 33 walks. Over his last three outings, including one start, he posted a 2.79 ERA. “There’s probably some pro and con to doing that, but we know when he comes, he comes with a great attitude,” Francona said. “He’s not going to be up as many pitches as maybe in the past this time just because he pitched a couple days ago.”
“We’re going to have to keep an eye on our pitchers in the next three or four days,” he said. “That’s why we tried to stay away from Curry .”Bibee stayed in Cleveland during the Guardians’ three-game road trip to Kansas City in order to get treatment on his hip. After 157 1/3 innings and a 12-4 combined record between Triple-A and the big leagues, Bibee’s rookie season is over. But Francona says the 24-year-old righty has a good attitude about finishing up early.
