Blackpool to get fourth coffee shop on one road as customers say 'at least it's not another pound shop'

The domino-effect of the coronavirus pandemic, coupled with the cost of living crisis, has meant our high streets have drastically changed in recent years.

Only a few weeks ago, it was announced with a clear advertisement that Northern Irish coffee chain Bob and Berts would be opening in a vacant unit, that was previously used as a discount catalogue store. Although this is seen as a positive step for many, some locals have taken to social media to express their frustration with "another coffee shop" in the vicinity.

One visitor, who has travelled to Blackpool for work, stated that she enjoys the perks of high street coffee chains, regularly using her Café Nero card to get discounts on the loyalty schemes. She said: "I travel around with work so I'm in a different city every week, so then I get the loyalty scheme, so that's why I use them.

Beth is happy about the new coffee shop and says if it attracts more people to the town, then it's a positive move forward. She said: "If it's not going to be a pound shop, I'm fine with it being a café. Absolutely fine." "But, we always go to Fleetwood to the Affinity Centre, used to be the Freeport, but even that's gone downhill. That's dying a death isn't it? It's just like anything."
