Following recent developments around Baird’s and Wilko in Hamilton, she is seeking the views of businesses, residents and other town centre users. The 12-week consultation will form part of a range of stakeholder engagements, which will inform a report on the area.as part of their work to create a master plan for the town.Lanark and Hamilton East MP Angela Crawley said: “As the MP for Hamilton town centre, the town’s future has recently been hit by a couple of blows with the abandoned Baird’s department store now up in the air following the withdrawal of Wetherspoons and the impending closure of Wilko in the Regent Centre.
“If no action is taken now then we will miss the chance to shape the future for Hamilton and prevent further decline as a result of recent events.
