Human remains found in Collin County earlier this year belonged to a woman reported missing from Dallas nearly two years ago, officials announced Wednesday.
Mercedes Clement, then 25, was first reported missing on Oct. 11, 2020, after she was last seen at an apartment complex in the 2200 block of Empire Central Place, near Harry Hines Boulevard., Clement was last seen alive on surveillance video walking through the apartment’s parking lot with a man. The surveillance system “suspiciously glitched” after that, the station reported, and she was never seen or heard from again.
On Feb. 13, 2022, the Princeton Police Department found skeletal remains near Lavon Lake in Princeton, Texas, roughly 40 miles northeast of Dallas. The Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office traced those remains back to Clement through a dental record comparison.
