A Redmond postal hub threatened with consolidation has been saved.
DelBene and others argued that closing the Redmond distribution center would lead to longer delivery wait times for about a million people.
The first signs of trouble that something like this could happen began during the run-up to the last presidential election.“Make sure that people are able to get their mail in a timely manner because we’re hearing complaints across the board about mail delays,” DelBene said in October 2020. DelBene’s office issued a statement that suggested the postal service reversed its decision after being shown it was relying on decade-old population data for the region.
