This week’s ale-inspired reader recipe was sent in by Karen who described herself as: 'a home-loving lady, who likes my own food'. She told us she loves this recipe because it was her brother's favourite beer.
Place in a hot oven at 200°C/Fan 180°C and cook until the pastry is light beige in colour.While the pastry is baking, chop the steak into cubes. Put the meat in a pan and fry with onion for a few minutes.Sprinkle in one or two beef stock cubes while stirring, gradually tipping in a splash of beer between stirs now and again to your taste, then add carrot and peas.
In the meantime check on the base; fill with the meat mixture and put on the lowest heat in the oven while you roll and cut out a thin layer of pastry for the pie lid.Place the lid on top of the pie. With butter and an egg yolk whisk together a drop of the soy or Worcester sauce.
