Northamptonshire Police have launched an investigation into how its own officers handled an illegal rave near Corby amid claims of brutality and violence against the revellers. Video footage has emerged of a young woman being bitten by a police dog after falling to the ground and a young man being bashed repeatedly with a riot shield and shoved by officers, which he said resulted in his glasses being broken.
While a third attendee who wished be named only as P claimed those behind the gathering had taken measures to ensure no nuisance was caused. "Measures were put in to make sure everyone was safe and everyone was out of the way," they said. "It was made sure that everyone was parked off the road to make sure there was no stress or aggravations to the road network."
P admits he was heavily under the influence at the time of the dispersal order. Footage shows him being repeatedly shoved by riot shields, which he says broke his glasses. "I suffer from PTSD and that first night I couldn't sleep. I couldn't get rid of that image of that riot shield coming to hit me in the face."
"I've been to plenty of illegal raves in the past where they've served section 63s. They've just told everyone to go, they didn't come in with riot shields and start battering everyone.
