The Rangers must name their ALCS roster by 10 a.m. CT Sunday ahead of Game 1 against the Houston Astros.

Two days after a 68-pitch simulated game, Scherzer threw another bullpen Friday, fielded ground balls like a maniac and pronounced himself ready.
Scherzer pitched the equivalent of four innings in his simulated game on Wednesday. Rangers officials came away from that “very encouraged,” according to pitching coach Mike Maddux. It was perhaps all the more impressive considering Scherzer had, only 18 hours earlier, been one of the most vigorous players in the Rangers’ Division Series clinch celebration.Said Scherzer of his velocity on Wednesday: “Well, it was kind of a weird sim game. I don’t often pitch hungover.
Scherzer, 39, has 27 postseason appearances, including 22 starts, totaling 133.1 innings. He ranks third among active pitchers in both postseason starts and innings behind Justin Verlander and Clayton Kershaw. Scherzer made one postseason start last season with the New York Mets, allowing San Diego seven runs, including four homers, in 4.2 innings.Evan Grant
