David McCarthy manned the phone as callers mourned the passing of legend Ronnie MacKinnon and debated the big weekend talking points.

The death of Rangers and Scotland stalwart Ronnie MacKinnon was rightly marked by tributes on the Hotline.

The weekend fixtures resulted in the usual complaints about refereeing standards and who does and doesn't get a fair deal. Kenny Wilson, Moffat, added: "Willie Mercer from Dumfries needs to take his blue glasses off and watch a game without them. To say Turnbull’s penalty was the same as Dessers' challenge is ridiculous. At what point did the Dundee player have the ball and Turnbull stopped him in the middle of passing it? It was a 50/50 ball which he got to first – nothing like the other challenge at all. Nice to see he still watches Celtic every week though.

John Bruce said: "By all accounts, both sides of the Old Firm won their games on Saturday without playing at their best. Already, fans are unhappy at their teams' style of play. Also, the two teams have fans who have issues with their manager. At Ibrox, a large section of the fans seem unconvinced by the 'new' manager. Whilst over at Parkhead, a sizeable section of the fans appear to be missing their old manager.

Gerard Milligan, Renfrewshire, emailed: "With Celtic now having SEVEN centre backs, the return of CCV will pose Rodgers a problem in what to do with Scales. He popped in some great balls into the box on Saturday, so I suggest we move him to left back in the wake of Taylor's low key performances, as Bernabei seems well out of the picture."Get all the latest Sports news sent straight to your Inbox every day by signing up to our newsletter.
