Two linemen left Monday’s loss in Cincinnati for extended periods of time and the Rams have just a few days to assess and adjust before flying to Indianapolis.
CINCINNATI — The Rams were already facing the logistical challenge of preparing for a road trip to face the Indianapolis Colts on a short week after flying home from Cincinnati.
Noteboom was able to return in the fourth quarter but add his knee issue to the deep shoulder bruise that kept him out of the end of a Week 2 loss to the 49ers. So the Rams enter a short travel week with two linemen licking their wounds. “There’ll certainly be some things that we can look at and wish I did better,” McVay said. “It’s tough because you’re playing from behind. They were doing a lot of different things that limited some of the things that we were able to activate. You become a little bit more regulated in terms of the inventory. You’re trying to be able to figure it out on the fly and they did a nice job being able to present.
“Zach Thomas had done a really good job with a lot of the repetitions that he had gotten and felt like making a two-man switch wasn’t in the best interest,” McVay explained. “We’ll look at the tape and figure out if that’s something that we want to do moving forward if Alaric is out for an extended period of time.”
