The cold front later this week is expected to drop temperatures in Bexar County down to the low 70s.
According to the National Weather Service in New Braunfels, rain chances are expected for each of the next six days. Those chances start Tuesday with a 20 percent to 30 percent chance of rain, followed by similar chances Wednesday and Thursday. Those chances are caused by disturbances in the middle to upper levels of the atmosphere, anywhere from 10,000 to 30,000 feet above the ground.
"For the next seven days, the accumulation looks like less than a quarter-inch," said Orlando Bermudez, a forecaster with NWS."There are rain chances every day, but the possibility of getting a shower is very low. We do have some instability, but the moisture is not enough; there are chances and probabilities, but those are low."
There is no severe weather expected in Bexar County, but strong to severe storms could appear farther west along the Rio Grande. However, those chances remain marginal, Bermudez said, with not enough moisture and a strong cap, or atmospheric ceiling, expected to prevent storms from maturing. If that cap should break, however, strong to severe chances will appear.
"On Friday a front is coming into the area late at night," Bermudez added."That front passage, advertised for late Friday afternoon into the evening hours, carries with it a 20 percent chance which carries into Saturday, but then of course on Sunday, it looks like chances will end up at less than 20 percent."
