MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow predicted Monday that “refusenik” Republicans may not certify the election if former President Donald Trump loses in November., in an op-ed for the New York Times, accuses Republicans of a new “ploy” to repeat Trump’s cries of a stolen election in the event his campaign does not prevail.
“Two refusenik Republican election board members were indicted in Cochise County, Ariz,” Maddow wrote. “That case is pending. Two others were removed from their positions in Surry County, N.C. In New Mexico, Pennsylvania and Nevada, Republican officials who delayed or refused to certify the votes ultimately relented under legal pressure.”
Maddow has expressed similar fears in the past as she warns against the potential of another Trump presidency. The pundit in January“Donald Trump is not leading the Republican Party and leading the Republican field of candidates because of his youthful vigor or because of his eloquence. None of that is going on,” she said. “What he’s offering is what he both inherently offers and now, more and more, explicitly offers, which is that ‘if you pick me, that’s the end of politics.
