He then got out of the SUV, wearing a leather glove with four serrated blades attached, and charged at the group while screaming at them, Katz said. Cavalluzzi then got back in his SUV and threatened to kill the demonstrators before driving onto the sidewalk, the district attorney said. Following a two-week trial, Cavalluzzi was convicted of nine counts each of attempted murder and first degree attempted assault, seven counts of menacing and one count each of criminal possession of a weapon and reckless driving.
Cavalluzzi’s sentencing is set for Oct. 13. He faces up to 25 years in prison for each count of attempted murder.
