Police continue to investigate how a Queens driver struck and killed a senior pedestrian on Friday evening.
According to law enforcement sources, the deadly collision happened in Far Rockaway at about 6:52 p.m. on Nov. 25 at the corner of Seagirt Boulevard and Beach 31st Street.
Based on a preliminary investigation, police determined that the victim, a 64-year-old man, was attempting to cross Seagirt Boulevard outside of the designated crosswalk. As he did so, cops said, the victim was struck by the driver, a 26-year-old man who was behind the wheel of a black 2020 Jeep Wrangler traveling eastbound on the boulevard.Photo via Google Maps
After striking the man, authorities noted, the driver stopped and remained at the scene. Officers from theUpon arrival at the location, police reported, the officers found the male victim with severe trauma to the body. EMS rushed him to nearby St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later; police have withheld his identity, pending family notification.
Law enforcement sources said the driver was not injured in the collision, and has not yet been charged with any wrongdoing.About the Author
