The Prince of Wales could read the Queen’s Speech next week in parliament due to growing health fears over Her Majesty
A Buckingham Palace spokesman confirmed the Queen, who has been experiencing mobility issues, plans to deliver her address at the national event, but her attendance will be confirmed on the day.The ceremony was not held in 2020 and last year a reduced capacity Covid-secure state opening of parliament was staged with the Queen present.
In recent years the Queen has predominantly travelled by car, rather than a carriage, to the palace and she will likely use the same form of transport if she does attend. The events will be staged at Buckingham Palace on May 11, 18 and 25, and the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh will be the venue for a party on June 29.
