Kurtis Rourke is the younger brother of former B.C. Lions QB Nathan Rourke.
“It’s certainly quite the honour for sure,” Rourke said during a media call with CFL reporters on Thursday. “There’s so many great Canadian players across the country.Last season in 11 games at Ohio, the 22-year-old Rourke passed for 3,256 yards and 25 touchdowns with just four interceptions. He also added 249 rushing yards and four touchdowns along the ground. He was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Year and presented with the 2022 Vern Smith Leadership Award.
“The fact that they have been able to clear me this week has been great,” said Rourke, who injured his knee last November. “It’s been a long road and tough recovery and rehab getting back but to be able to reach the goal of being able to play this week is nothing but exciting and it was all worth it for sure.”
“My goal since I was young was to play professionally, whether that’s CFL NFL,” said Rourke. “And so, if those opportunities present itself, I look forward to going down that road after the season.”
