Councils have begun warning residents and launching emergency protocols as a cold blast begins to grip Northamptonshire over the next week. Temperatures will barely reach 4C in Northampton until the weekend, with lows of -2C on most nights throughout the county.
West Northants will only see highs of just 4C at the height of Wednesday and Friday, with an average 'feels-like' temperature of around -2C in the day and -5C at night. North Northants will meanwhile see 'feels-like' temperatures of a freezing -6C most nights. Older people are asked to keep themselves warm with lots of layers and heating the house to at least 18°C in regularly-used rooms. Or visit one of North Northants' Warm spaces.
