In a statement to the StarPhoenix, Saskatoon police chief Troy Cooper said this provincial funding is new. As part of this agreement, Saskatoon police have contributed funding within its existing budget for two new positions, so there are four more ARO officers available. The officers have already been hired and started their 11-week training program, and part of their training takes place in the community so they will be visible soon, Cooper wrote.
