The Costco would be built on an 18-acre property across from Faulkner Cadillac and the Cumberland Valley School District complex. Some comments that CBS 21 heard from the public say that their issue is not with Costco itself, but the location. They say that their community already struggles with traffic issues and the Costco will only increase congestion.Christine Musser, a local community member, commented, “And it’s right across from the high school as well. It is more of a safety thing. Are students going to try and cross over? It’s a safety issue with the traffic.”
If the plan is voted through, then the Costco could open as soon as the summer of 2025. However, residents are asking for the township to push back this timeline in order to conduct studies on the impact the traffic could have on infrastructure and come up with a plan to alleviate as much of the traffic and infrastructure issues as possible.
