Pro-Palestinian demonstrators swarm the Port of Tacoma on Nov. 6, 2023, to protest a Middle East-bound ship full of what they believe to be military equipment and weapons. Hundreds of pro-Palestinian protestors swarmed the Port of Tacoma Monday morning in attempts to block what they believe is a ship loaded with weapons and military equipment heading to the Middle East.
The boat, protestors believe, was at the Port of Oakland on Friday. Bay Area protestors, angered by the approval of U.S. aid to Israel, demonstrated there as well.Bissan Barghouti, one of the protestors in Pierce County, said the ship was "not currently visible" as it's unclear if the boat has already arrived in Tacoma.
"Petty officer Hunter Schnabel confirmed to ABC7 News they detained three people on charges of potentially breaching maritime facilities and trespassing laws," ABC7 reported. "The three have since been released and there is an ongoing investigation." The Palestinian death toll in the Israel-Hamas war surpassed 10,000, including more than 4,100 children and 2,640 women, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza.
