BEIJING—A prime-time debate on the U.S.-China trade conflict between hosts from Fox Business Network and Chinese state television is providing Beijing a rare opportunity to reach a huge American audience—something it has struggled to do.

The debate, set to air at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday, is the result of sparring on Twitter in recent weeks between Fox Business’s Trish Regan and Liu Xin, who hosts an English-language current-affairs show for China Global Television Network, a state-run media outlet directed at foreign audiences....
