Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is to visit Northern Ireland later after Stormont parties held talks with NI Secretary chhcalling
Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Chris Heaton-Harris, stated he would bring the parties together in a bid to improve relations.
Northern Ireland has been without a fully-functioning government since February, when the DUP walked out of the executive in Speaking following the meeting with Mr Heaton-Harris, Sir Jeffrey said he had "spelled out" what the party needed to see in order to return to the executive. Leader of the Ulster Unionist Party, Doug Beattie, Doug Beattie said that he did not leave the meeting "heartened" as nothing had moved forward but he remained positive.
So this feels more like Rishi Sunak coming to Belfast to fulfil a fixture in his first visit as prime minister.
