Released in 2022 on Hulu, the latest entry in the long-running Predator franchise put an entirely new spin on its familiar sci-fi subject-matter, setting itself in pre-Colonial America for a story about a young Comanche warrior woman battling a hunter from beyond the stars.
It was a big motivation. Because The Searchers was one of the large reasons of how we settled on Comanche being the drive, the focus. Because The Searchers has a really poor representation of Native American people, as does so many movies in movie history, but The Searchers is such a seminal Western that it felt like a cool thing. And that shot has been so replicated in every movie, and Westerns in particular. So it felt awesome to kind of reclaim it and re-contextualize it.
