Presidential candidate CoryBooker shouts out TaylorSwift's petition to support the EqualityAct
, which currently has more than 150,000 signatures. In support, presidential candidate Cory Booker wrote his own letter thanking Swift for her efforts.
The songstress uploaded the note to her Instagram story. "Every LGBTQ person who has ever been made to feel like they don't belong, who has ever been bullied, abused, or discriminated against because of who they are and who they love should know that, in the halls of Congress and in the highest levels of the federal government, we see you, we hear you, we love you," Booker's letter reads.
"Thank you all for signing this petition, and for your support of the Equality Act," he concluded. "And thank you Taylor Swift for your leadership." "Be like Cory," Swift commented on the candidate's words. If passed, the Equality Act that would add “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” as protected classes under federal civil rights law, and aims to reduce discrimination of the LGBTQ community.
