Griner's family have been appealing to U.S. officials to help her get home.
"It is a deeply personal letter," Jean-Pierre said."The president is going to do everything that he can in his power to bring her home, along with other U.S. nationals who are being ... wrongfully detained abroad," Jean-Pierre said. ... As I sit here in a Russian prison, alone with my thoughts and without the protection of my wife, family, friends, Olympic jersey, or any accomplishments, I'm terrified I might be here forever.
Biden's national security adviser Jake Sullivan spoke with Griner's wife Cherelle Griner on Saturday, Jean-Pierre said, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken has also spoken with Cherelle Griner recently.
