A man died early Tuesday after he was struck by a constable’s deputy’s patrol car in north Harris County, Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said.
A deputy around 6 a.m. was driving along the feeder road of Beltway 8 near the Hardy Toll Road when a man ran out in front of his vehicle, Herman said. Witnesses said the man ran in front of the vehicle from the highway side of the road. Investigators believe he was running after committing a theft, Herman said.The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Herman said.
Officials with the constable’s office were working with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office to investigate the fatal crash, Herman said.
