Officials are monitoring the area of South Mountain Reservation where a 13-year-old and a dog were attacked this weekend.A portion of South Mountain Reservation in Essex County will remain closed until Thursday after an aggressive coyote bit a 13-year-old girl and a dog at the county park, officials said.
The teen was taken to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center with puncture wounds to her leg, a spokeswoman for Essex County Sheriff’s Office told NJ Advance Media. These are the only parts of the South Mountain Reservation that will remain closed. The park’s family-friendly Turtle Back Zoo, ice skating arena, and recreation complex are not affected, said DiVincenzo.
