'Using these types of devices could be fatal'
An energy expert has issued a warning over a cost-saving device, popular on TikTok, that could pose a fire risk. TikTok is littered with energy-saving hacks that people have been using to beat the cost of living crisis.
Not only does Robert say that there is no evidence these devices work, but he also warns the devices are dangerous and could even burn your home down. The energy-saving boxes claim to be suitable for both personal and business use and work by plugging them into a wall outlet. "During our research into the devices, we found that some social media claims were made that you need to install these devices in your home for at least three months to see a difference, however, this isn't possible as these devices are a real danger to anyone who has purchased them."
"There was access to live parts and the overall build quality of the device was poor, the plugs on the device do not have a plug that is compliant with the BS1363 safety standard. The device also claims to have surge protection built in.
