Popovich underwent a minor medical procedure earlier in the day, the team said. In addition to Friday's game against New Orleans, Popovich is also expected to miss Sunday's game against Phoenix as well.Popovich arrived at the AT&T Center on Friday, and participated in his usual pregame meeting with reporters with the intention of coaching the game. He decided not long after to sit out.
Assistant coach Brett Brown led the Spurs on Friday. Brown also coached a Nov. 20 loss at the Los Angeles Lakers when Popovich was ill.
