Poll tracker FiveThirtyEight shows Republicans leading Democrats on the generic congressional ballot.

A poll conducted by Schoen-Cooperman Research from December 2 to 9 found the GOP leadingin the midterms by 48 percent to 45 percent and this apparent trend is reflected in other recent surveys.

FiveThirtyEight is tracking the generic congressional ballot using an analysis of a variety of polls and its pollster rating system and they also putAs of December 22, FiveThirtyEight gave Republicans 43.4 support on the generic congressional ballot compared to the Democrats' 41.8 percent. Perhaps more concerning for the president's party is the fact the GOP's lead has increased in FiveThirtyEight's analysis.
