Illegal migrants are 'not behaving acceptably' - Braverman

"It's very clear, it's very simple what it means," she said."I think the British people will understand."The final iteration of the government's controversial Illegal Migration Bill is now being debated in the Commons, ahead of a vote later tonight. The law also includes plans for a new cap on the number of people who can arrive in the UK each year via safe and legal routes - but only once the small boats issue has been resolved.Suella Braverman has said the UK has"no plans" to provide safe routes for refugees looking to leave Sudan after the evacuation is complete.

She said:"The precise details of that operation include are all very carefully reached on the basis of operational factors, sensitivity issues around the particular circumstances in Sudan. However, Mr Jenrick says that the government believes the bill is, in fact, compatible with the ECHR."We take our treaty obligations seriously," he says.

However, he has told Sky News that he is happy with what Robert Jenrick has said on the matter in the Commons - and is unlikely to push for a vote."It's looking quite likely as if the government is not going to face any big Tory rebellions tonight." One of the key criticisms of the Illegal Migration Bill is that is leaves no so-called safe and legal routes, but immigration minister Robert Jenrick insists that the UK makes"generous provision" to provide refuge to those fleeing persecution.

"I'm also acutely concerned that we balance that with the very real safeguarding risks posed by young adults pretending to be children."
