Police have issued a statement after armed officers were seen in the Sneinton area on Thursday evening. Witnesses have reported police vehicles blocking off the entrances to a number of roads.
The force have now confirmed that officers were called to Sneinton Dale shortly after 5.30pm. Police attended the scene after reports of a man in the area who is wanted with an ongoing robbery investigation. Nottinghamshire Police said a thorough search was completed, however their inquiries remain ongoing at this stage. The force have also addressed the concerns surrounding the armed officers who attended the incident.Chief Inspector Chris Pearson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers were called to Sneinton Dale, in Sneinton, shortly after 5.30pm, yesterday after receiving reports of a man in the area who is wanted in connection with an ongoing robbery investigation.
“A thorough search was completed, and our inquiries remain ongoing. We are aware there is concern within the community about armed officers being in the area. I want to assure residents we are working hard to locate the man.”
