BREAKING: Police shut major road in city centre after man is attacked
Emergency services were called to the scene on Princess Street, near the Gay Village, at around 7am today . A man was taken to hospital, police said.
His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. No arrests have been made at this stage.A cordon was put in place on a stretch of Princess Street after the incident. Pictures taken at the scene showed a section of the road taped off near Granby Row. Officers were stationed at the scene as investigations were carried out. Traffic was directed away from the area with some bus services also diverted.
The Manchester Evening News understands that the cordon has now been removed. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At approximately 7am this morning , officers responded to reports of an assault on Princess Street in Manchester. "Police and ambulance services attended, and a man was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening or life changing. No arrests have been made at this time and a scene remains in police whilst officers carry out their enquiries."
