Thomas Cromwell, 27, was shot and killed by police while holding a woman hostage in a hotel room in Mason, Ohio, reports say.
police officers arrived at the hotel at about 3:30 p.m. Monday to arrest Cromwell. The Warren County Tactical Response Team was called at about 6:30 p.m. when Cromwell refused to surrender, reports say.
Police say Cromwell held a woman at knifepoint in the room. The woman reportedly was Cromwell’s girlfriend. Members of the tactical unit broke into the hotel room at about 2:30 a.m. after police became concerned when Cromwell reportedly made “life-threatening statements” toward the woman.. “He only had a certain amount of time left. He was almost done. I knew he was going to do something stupid.”Cromwell and another inmate, Shawn Black, escaped through a broken window on July 9. Black has not been captured.
