Texas State Sen. Roland Gutierrez (D- San Antonio) said that “between two and six people” were shot, according to Austin-based NBC affiliate KXAN-TV.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said on Twitter the shooting is suspected to have ties to gang activity at Memorial Parkand that Texas DPS is working with Uvalde police and the sheriff’s office in the investigation.
Officials have not specified the conditions of the victims or released any identifying details about the suspected shooters, according to WFAA. Police responded to the area about 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Uvalde on May 24 saw the deadliest school shooting in U.S. history, when a lone gunman killed 19 students and two teachers at Robb Elementary School.
