Jay Slater hasn't been seen since he left a house party an 11-hour walk from where he was staying in Tenerife
The step-dad of a teenager from Lancashire who has gone missing in Tenerife has described the moment police knocked on the door and suggested they get on the first flight. Jay Slater had travelled to the Spanish island earlier this month with friends Lucy and Brad to attend a music festival - his first holiday abroad without his parents.
Jay only had one per cent battery left on his phone and his mobile died with his last known location showing him in 'the middle of the mountains'. Less than 24 hours later officers from Lancashire Constabulary were knocking on his mum Debbie's home in Oswaldtwistle. "It was about 2.30am in the early hours," Andy, 63, told LancsLive. "When the police said 'the best thing you can do is get yourself out there' we knew it was bad. This was his first holiday on his own. I'm just hoping he's gone to another party."
