Knotwords combines Wordle-like guessing with the format of a mini crossword puzzle. The game was developed by Zach Gage and is an iOS and Android app, along with being on Steam as well.
I’ve been playing myself a bit and while I initially started out feeling like quite a bit of an idiot as I went to solve it, I slowly seem to be clicking with it, and I can see how clever this setup is, and why it’s not like a traditional crossword puzzle, as there’s nothing like needing to find clues for answers. It’s all just word and letter formatting like Wordle, but with far more dimensions at play.
Wordle has gotten a number of clones since its release, but they’re all more or less the same concept, whether that’s guessing at themed words or just having X number of guesses to discover something . Here, this is a truly new game that feels like “Super Wordle” to some extent, without being derivative of the original like all these other ones. It’s addicting and if word games are your thing, this seems like something you should be check out immediately.
So, should I start doing daily Knotwords answer posts? May be a bit too early for that, but if it catches on…anything’s possible.
