A Libertarian Senate candidate is winning more than 2%, denying Herschel Walker and Raphael Warnock the 50% threshold they need to avoid a runoff.
The hotly contested Georgia Senate race will head to a Dec. 6 runoff between the top two candidates, Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker.
In the Georgia Senate race, Libertarian Chase Oliver appears poised to win 2.1% of the vote, potentially enough to deny Warnock and Walker the 50% they need. Neither candidate will garner the 50% of the vote needed to clinch the seat outright under state rules. The two Senate hopefuls will head to a Dec. 6 runoff.
The Georgia race, one of the most competitive in the country, could help to determine control of the Senate, along with remaining races in Arizona and Nevada. Republicans need to win two of those contests, against Democratic incumbents, to win a majority in the Senate.
